In a world where attention spans are shrinking, the ability to create compelling narratives in a brief format has never been more valuable. Building worlds in just a few words is not only an art form but a powerful tool for modern writers, who weave stories that resonate deeply.
In this Blogpost I want to share my favorite poems, as well as Haiku inspired poetry snippets with you. Some of them were written specifically for my Instagram account, some were truly inspired by an awe for nature or a moment to be kept, others were the perfect little exercise on the go and finally: I do love language and writing!
Carlotta, one of my characters in “Love labyrinth”, dreams about becoming a poetry slammer. In the story “Wired” you can find some of these snippets, too.
Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese verse, comprised of just 3 lines and 5,7,5 syllables, capturing a moment or a feeling as well as nature. It is also part of the Wabi Sabi way of living.
To take the Haiku approach even further I started to write poetic observations that rhyme and if possible, at all, include some wisdom or inspiration.
So here we go, dive into the short and sweet world of 13 free, inspiring poems for you to enjoy.
Ice-cold lemonade,
Words like sunshine in my head,
Summers sweet escape…
(June 2024 Haiku inspired poetry)
Summertime’s farewell,
Sun rays try to linger on,
As the month concludes.

Planted long ago,
Seeds under the surface grow,

Fall leaves are waving,
Dropping, rattling in the wind,
Look at me they say.
(November 2023 Haiku inspired poetry)
An eye for nature.
Flowers so red. Grass so green,
A beautiful scene.

Why and what to do.

How do you feel?
I feel like the river,
Seeking flow,
My surface is a mirror.
I feel like the sun,
Racing to shine,
… but the clouds won!
I feel like the tree,
Trying to reach the horizon.
Yet, I am not free.

in northern Germany April 2021)
Conclusion: short and sweet observations can turn into poetry snippets and definately ignite our imagination, they can create new worlds, even if it is just for a moment in our own minds. Lots of Love, Astrid.
